the watchtower will be studied tomorrow that contains the new overlapping generations teaching.
paragraph 10 reads:.
"he evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation.".
I don't really expect too much tomorrow morning. As of last Thursday night the WT conductor hadn't looked at it!

we all have jw beliefs that we take issue with.
what are some of the beliefs you think about that really bug you, that not too many people talk about?.
for me there are two specific teachings.
Why do we only get kangeroos in Australia? If they had come out of the ark and made their way there by the 'land bridges' the society suggest, surely some would have died on the way and there would be evidence of their remains.
Similarly, there must have been kangeroos around Mesopotamia in order for Noah to take the into the ark before the flood. There would be evidence of kanga's in that area also. But there isn't!
There may have been a significant LOCAL flood, but as sure as 'eggs is eggs' as we say here, it was not world wide.
If you fancy a bit of mathematical fun, work out how much rain has to fall each day for a year in order to cover all the mountains, even if you take Ararat as the highest mountain at say 13,000 ft.

okay, something that has always been a side point but still a rather ridiculous rule is that brothers cannot "serve" if they have a beard/goatee/anything more than just a moustache.
at least in the states, i've heard of some congregations in some countries allow this, but they are the exception?
your experience?.
I think it could vary between countries. Here in the UK it doesn't seem to be such a big deal, I had a beard on two occasions without any problems though I was not an appointed man. However I know of at least one MS who has a beard and an elder who has had a beard all the years I have known him.
I once read somewhere that Rutherford put the ban on beards as brothers were growing them in the style of the late C T Russell and the ban has stuck ever since.
Just a man made rule like having to wear a suit. Then again I rarely do that either!

some circuit overseers leave lasting impressions either for good or bad.
others i barely remember.
three that had the most impact on me were rodricks (that's how it's pronounced, not sure of the spelling), casino and shepherd.
Ron Bicknell; former C/O on the appeal of my J/C , good guy
I put him down on the recent C/O list. He visited us in the early 1960's so he must be really getting on now. Met his wife Jenny at Art School and they both used to paint in their spare time.

bro.
jaracz died this morning, wednesday, june 9, 2010 at about 7:30 am.
he was 84 years old.
Last Thursday evening I mentioned to several people at the KH that Ray Franz had died. No one could remember him.
Tonight I mentioned that Ted Jaracz had died. It was met with the same indifference. One elder vaguely remembered him giving a talk at an international convention some years ago.
Your average JW knows nothing and cares even less.

who were your past circuit overseers?
i'm sure a lot of us actually know mutual people, as the co's relocate all over the country.. here's a few from the southeast us: (let me know if you recognize any names and post yours too please...).
ellwood johnson (new york/philadelphia area for several years also).
John Blaney, also had a brother called Martin but I was very young at this time!
Ron & Jenny Bicknell - artists.
Ted & Joyce Buckingham. Joyce died, he is in London Bethel, life story in WT a few years ago.
Ron Drage (or was he DO?) always wore a bow tie. In Bethel in London these days.
John Flack, couldn't wait to change out of suit into jeans! Nice looking wife Jean (Chanel No. 5).
David Algar, great speaker, cannot remember his wife though.
(Wife returned so will have to have another think!)

does anybody personally know people at bethel that are "apostate" but still undercover?
surely there has to be a handul at least.
perhaps they are still there, until they can get things in order to leave...
A question should be asked "If there is an apostate at Bethal, why the hell would s/he stay slaving for corporation for free??"
For the same reason that many of us are still trapped in - family. Leaving would be difficult without family support, especially for those that went to Bethel with no education. If they leave, especially after many years in, they do so with no education, no insurance policies, no transferable skills, no money, no accomodation.........
Just like people that have been in prison for years, they become institutionalised. They would find it difficult to cope on the 'outside'. Imagine having to find a job, accomodation, doing your own shopping, cooking, cleaning. Every year that passes must make leaving more difficult.

When I was baptised half a century ago, there were no questions to go through in the Organized Book; there was no Organized book. There weren't even Elders in those days! When you got to being a teenager after 13 years of brain washing and indoctrination it was just expected of you. No one asked you any questions, no one checked you understood what you were doing. You, or more probably your parents would mention it to the Congregation servant before the Circuit Assembly and then you turned up on the Sunday morning with your towel and cozzie.
The only book produced for 'young people' in those days was the 'Paradise Book' in 1958 and that certainly didn't mention sex. It was too busy explaining how each of the creative days were 7000 years long.

from jw.org, here is the new definition of the generation from the april 15, 2010 watchtower.. .
article: holy spirits role in the outworking of jehovahs purpose.
13 third, holy spirit is at work in bringing bible.
Saw this on YouTube today but not sure how to insert it. Well worth a watch. Perhaps someone can offer a bit of help if it doesn't work.
